Call for Participants for Research into Women’s Chronic Pain and Disbelief

This research is looking to hear from women who live with chronic pain or illness, and have experienced feeling silenced, or disbelieved, in relation to their symptoms. These accounts will contribute to a larger theological study into silence, disbelief, and trauma.

Do you want to be part of the Research?

You are invited to take part if you:

  • Are a woman who has a diagnosis of chronic pain or illness (for example, endometriosis, PCOS, UC, Fibromyalgia, etc.)
  • Are currently in the process of investigating or seeking a diagnosis of chronic pain or illness.
  • are over the age of 18, live in the UK, or underwent your diagnostic process within the UK Healthcare system.

As this study is looking at gendered perceptions of pain, it is looking to hear from women AFAB, those with a ‘female specific’ health condition (such as endometriosis), or persons who have been treated as a woman in the NHS for pain or illness.

The study is looking at women’s health inequality within the UK, and so will also be looking to explore racial and intersectional health inequalities.

If you are interested in participating, or would like more information on the study, please contact eilidh.galbraith@abdn.ac.uk.
