Pain-Less Nutrition – can food change your pain? Join Dr Deepak Ravindran, Alicja Wypasek and “Mr Cookfulness” Ian Taverner as they discuss how and why nutrition is important for people living with persistent pain and whether the food we eat can affect our pain.

 

Dr Deepak Ravindran is the best selling author of The Painfree Mindset, Alicja Wypasek is a registered Nutritionist and Ian Taverner is Mr. Cookfulness himself – bios are below.

Dr. Deepak Ravindran

Dr. Deepak Ravindran has over 20 years of experience in Pain Medicine and is Clinical Lead in Pain Medicine at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, one of the busiest General Hospitals in the UK.

He is one of the very few consultants in the UK who holds triple certification in musculoskeletal, pain medicine and lifestyle medicine. He also is an honorary consultant to the award-winning community Pain service, IPASS, for the county of Berkshire. Recently, he helped set up and leads the Berkshire Longcovid Integrated service.

Dr. Deepak Ravindran is a speaker, podcast host of “Pain Speak” and author of the Best Selling book “The Pain Free Mindset” – a book aimed at patients suffering with pain but also immensely useful for all healthcare professionals in understanding all the recent advances around pain management and scientific evidence-based way of managing and overcoming pain. Dr. Deepak Ravindran is an ‘upstreamist’ with a trauma informed approach to pain practice.

Alicja Wypasek

Alicja Wypasek is registered Nutritionist with registration number 10979 & Certified Lifestyle Medicine Professional.  MSc Food Science & Nutrition, MSc Biochemistry, ANutr, PT, Certified in Lifestyle Medicine (Dip BSLM/IBLM)

Alicja is full qualified Registered Nutritionist with a Masters in Nutrition and full Certified Lifestyle Medicine Professional, with a wealth of experience on helping people to become healthy, energised and pain free, equipping them with knowledge and techniques to improve their life style.

Alicja, as a certified Lifestyle Medicine professional is “treating the cause” of most of modern diseases, not focusing only on the symptoms but getting to the root of the problem. In her practice the food is medicine, and the patient is the guide. Therapeutic food plans are prescribed personally, designed specifically to the patient condition based on knowledge she gained with the Institute for Functional Medicine.

Some of Alicja’s key areas of expertise include weight and pain management, gastrointestinal diseases (Crohn’s, irritable bowel syndrome, celiac, ulcerative colitis, haemorrhoids, etc), food intolerance, thyroid problems, pregnancy and preconception, fatigue, skin health, hormonal imbalances, auto-immune disease (including Hashimoto’s Disease), etc.

Additionally,  Alicja works with clients looking for Sport Nutrition Strategies for their athletic performance or to manage their medical conditions with a balanced diet.

Alicja usually works providing one-to-one advice for individuals, as well as delivering services to non-profit organisations, running nutrition workshops for sport clubs, groups and private companies etc.

Ian Taverner

Ian Taverner  is the creator and writer of Cookfulness, and is a chronic fibromyalgia, arthritis, anxiety and depression survivor. He wants to show you that you really can benefit from the therapeutic power of cooking no matter what level of pain, fatigue or anxiety you are feeling!
