VIDEO – Sleeping with Pain Event

28/04/2021

Sleep is a built-in ability that usually doesn’t take much effort at all. After all, how simple can it be to sleep? You just close your eyes, relax and get taken away to your dreams. But for many people living with chronic pain, sleeping isn’t as easy as that.

The video of the event is available below.

There is hope, however, in overcoming insomnia. It is known that insomnia, pain and psychological distress are intertwined; therefore a combination approach works best.

Pain expert and author Sue Peacock will explore how pain affects sleep and what we can all do to get that elusive good night’s sleep, in an engaging session which will include:

  • Welcome and introductions from Sue and co-presenter Mark
  • Brief overview of sleeping with pain
  • Top ten tips discussion
  • Group discussion about pain and sleep
  • and finishing with a relaxation exercise

Sue will also be giving out free copies of her book to three participants picked at random.

Sue Peacock is a Consultant Health Psychologist, Advanced Hypnotherapy Practitioner, EMDR (eye movement desensitising and reprocessing) practitioner and author of several popular books on chronic pain including the popular Sleeping with Pain: Strategies for a restful night.
